Scramble! Take command of a force of iconic aircraft in this fast-paced dogfighting game. Collect, build and paint a plethora of iconic aircraft from World War Two and beyond. Designed by renowned game designer Andy Chambers, the game is lightning-fast with players vying for superior positioning with the dynamic ‘Advantage’ system at its core. Whilst games of Blood Red Skies can be as simple as matched dogfights, the strength of the game is in the variety of scenarios available. Each player often has asymmetric objectives as attacker or defender in missions such as ground attack/defence, bomber or transport escorts or even simple daring reconnaissance flights over hostile territory.
Aircraft are available for many of the belligerent air forces of World War Two, and the range is ever- expanding. Iconic aircraft from the Battle of Britain, the skirmishes of the Mediterranean, the Ostfront and the carrier battles of the Pacific are available, and more! Prop-engined fighters, dive- bombers, torpedo-bombers, transports and multi-engined bombers are all at your disposal, as well as the jet fighters of the Korean War. You can also recruit ace pilots, masters of the sky, who’ll have a tremendous impact on the tabletop.
Truly make your miniatures your own by painting them! All Blood Red Skies aircraft are very easy to assemble (most are single-piece) and come unpainted and so you can tailor your collection to represent a particular squadron or paint scheme. A range of waterslide decal sheets are also available that will make sure your aircraft have the correct markings. Any gamer will tell you that a painted model always performs better on the tabletop!
Engage in thrilling fast-paced dogfights where the key is in outmaneuvering your opponent. Using the dynamic ‘Advantage’ system, your aircraft will jostle for position, waiting for that key moment to unleash a deadly burst of gunfire. Swift and ofttimes brutal, games are easy to set up and quick to set up, so you can get multiple dogfights, bomber escort missions, ground-attack scenarios or a wealth of other options played during a session.
The turning point of the war in the Pacific, the Battle of Midway, is the focus of our Blood Skies starter set, pitting six United States Grumman F4F Wildcats against six Japanese Mitsubishi A6M” ‘Zeroes’. Included is everything you need to play – models, bases, tokens dice, game cards and of course the rules. The single-piece models require no assembly so you can dive right into the business of dogfighting.
