During the initial stages of Manhattan Project, the security and defences of Los Alamos and the White Sands Missile Range, on which the Trinity Test had been conducted in February 1944, had mostly been handled by Military Police. This situation didn’t change immediately upon the emergence of the Los Alamos Rift. It was post-Miracle Day, in which President Franklin D. Roosevelt had visited the site and apparently been cured of his terminal ailments, that security would be ramped up.
A huge concrete perimeter wall was built around the Area 51 site, nearly 32 miles long, to maintain a radius of an average of five miles from the Rift that sat at its centre. Alongside re-assigned units of the National Guard, the New Mexico State Guard were enlisted with its security. Defensive emplacements were placed along the structure at regular intervals, protecting against potential air attack (though aircraft could not operate in the immediate vicinity of the Rift), and as technology developed, some of these structures were upgraded with Tesla weaponry.
This digital 3D print file contains assets to construct a United States defensive emplacement as described in the Invasion Amerika supplement for Konflikt '47, including a choice of turrets: one mounting four Light Automatic Cannons, and one mounting the M177 Dual Tesla Cannon. These have been designed for the scenario 'Shōkō-Gō', found on pages 60-62 of Invasion Amerika, where you'll find rules for their use, but are equally useful as terrain features or objectives for games or scenarios of your own concoction. Also included in the file is a small section of concrete barricade, useful for any Konflikt '47 battlefield!
Models sculpted by Jon Heeney. Example studio models painted by Darek Wyrozebski.
